The vast experience of our medical team alongside with its high expertise outcomes the use of this innovative scientific method, turning the possibilities of a successful fertilization into prospects.

How Artificial Ovary Activation (AOA) is applied

AOA can be performed in different ways, depending on the needs of each case:

After microfertilization (ICSI), the eggs are placed for a few minutes in a special culture medium containing calcium ionophores (inomycin).

Calcium ionophores are substances that help calcium enter the interior of the egg. In this way, they mimic the natural “signal” given by the sperm, activating the egg to begin embryo development.

They help initiate reactions necessary for embryo development, increasing the percentage of blastocysts.

When is AOA recommended

The technique can provide a solution in cases such as:

  • Total fertilization failure after ICSI
  • Low fertilization rates (below 33%)
  • Severe male factor infertility (low quality sperm),
  • Oocyte activation deficiency, when the egg itself does not respond normally

Effectiveness & Safety

Artificial Oocyte Activation is a promising technique that:

  • Significantly increases fertilization rates
  • Improves the qualitative development of embryos (e.g. blastocyst formation)
  • Enhances the chances of pregnancy, especially in couples with previous failed attempts

It is implemented with strict laboratory protocols, based on the available scientific data on its safety and effectiveness.
